We held our annual Harvest assembly on Friday (27th) with our donations going to Jimmy's in Cambridge to support the homeless.
During September, the whole school has been having fun exploring poetry. Our Reception classes recited and performed a poem called Choppety Chop, whilst children from Years 1 to 6 developed their knowledge of Classical Poetry. Years 1 and 2 learnt the poem, The Owl and the Pussy Cat, and Years 3 and 4, The Jumblies, both written by the poet Edward Lear. Years 5 and 6 investigated the complex but fun vocabulary in Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll.
We want learning to be fun but that can make it messy!
Year 5s listen during their Sports Leader training, in preparation for Year 6.
Last Friday afternoon, we held the much anticipated Swavesey's Got Talent final 2024.
Our finalists attended the writing competition celebration at Swasvesey Village College on Thursday 27th June.
The event was a wonderful culmination of the whole writing competition and saw winners awarded across the cluster. The finalist entries were sent to the judges, who were the children's author, Mini Grey, and members of the St Ives Rotary club, without any identification (the child's name nor the school), and so they were truly judged independently.
Bella, one of our Yr3/4 finalists, won this age category, while Millie (also Yr3/4) and Aggie (Yr5/6) both received 'Highly commended' for their stories.
The judges were impressed with the quality of writing by all the finalists and found the task of deciding a winner difficult but enjoyable.
Please read Bella and Millie's account of the celebration below.
We are proud of our staff and children to be receiving Platinum, the highest games mark status, once again.
Speedy scootering and lots of fun for the Year 3/4s with a former Scooter World Champion.
Determination, resilience and teamwork were shown throughout the day.
Year 4's are all smiles at the cricket competition
