Newly trained Year 5 Sports Leaders for 2025/26.

All smiles, as the current Year 5's complete their Sports Leader training course.
On Tuesday 8th July, a member of the SCSSP staff visited Swavesey to lead Sports Leader training. The children in attendance had completed an application form for me, to explain why they should be selected to train, and tell me why they felt they would contribute to the role.
The morning started with a Q and A session in the hall, to find out what the role specifically requires. I have to say that I was extremely impressed with the answers given by the children and how many sensible questions were asked.
The session continued outside in the sunshine with the children playing games, as a whole group initially, and then, in small groups, teaching each other the games they had learnt from the sports leader, 'game cards'.
The children were all super-excited and energetic and a credit to the school. They have all been presented with a certificate and sports leader badge. They will, in their rota groups, try out some ideas during the final week of term.
I would like to say a BIG thank you to the current Year 6 Sports Leaders, who officially retired from their role on Friday. Throughout the year, they have all been extremely conscientious, encouraging and supporting the younger Reception and Key Stage 1 children during lunchtime play. I have had so many adults throughout the year complimenting you all for your hard work. Hopefully, some of you will apply to be a Sports Leader at secondary school, where you will be invaluable at all the SCSSP events and Primary School Games at local schools. Good luck to you all.
