School Games 2025 Part 2, Reception and KS1

Victory for PURPLE HOUSE, for the first time since it was established in 2011.
After a postponement earlier in the week, due to the intense heat, on Friday 4th July, Reception and KS1 were able to compete in their School Games 2025.
Although warmer than anticipated, there was a cooling breeze on the school field, as ten teams of flag-waving 'Wimbledon' or 'Euros' teams arrived on the school field to start the events.
From the very first starting bell, rung by Mrs Norden for the very last time, athletes began to work hard in the various zones, in order to score points to try to win the 'House Trophy' ribbon.
The field was filled with cheering, clapping and lots of excitement. Although this year, running races were postponed until cooler weather, only the points gained in the ten zones contribute to the overall score.
The Year 6 Sports Leaders, plus a couple of additional Year 6 helpers, were all amazing, supporting every team in their zone, scoring points fairly and demonstrating to those who were a little nervous about what to do. The event could not have happened without the support of the children and staff, so thank you to them all.
After 70 minutes, the final bell was rung. With parents, carers and athletes eagerly anticipating the results, everybody headed over to the podium where Mr Pawlett would announce the results. Thank you to the 'number crunchers' 'Miss Bennett and Mrs Warrington' for having them ready so quickly!
Sooooo...
5th Place with 2269 points GREEN HOUSE

Purple House was established in 2011, when numbers in the four other house colours were getting too high. This is the first time they have won the trophy ribbon in Reception / KS1 during that time, so a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to every athlete in purple house.
Well done to everybody and thank you, the athletes, staff, sports leaders and spectators for a fabulous morning. Hopefully, running races will take place before the end of term, weather/ rabbit holes and cracks permitting!
