Year 3 / 4 Scooter Workshop 2025...a day of thrills and skills !

Terry Price ends the day, with his 360-degree backflip, to a screaming audience of pupils, staff and Mr Pawlett...!!
On Wednesday 2nd July, for the second year in a row, former world champion scooter rider Terry Price from BMX, Skate & Scoot Academy, visited Swavesey. He delivered a stunt scooter workshop for Years 3 and 4, plus a 'showcase' assembly, for the whole school to watch, at the end of the day!
Each class was divided into separate year groups, with each spending 40 minutes with Terry; learning how to safely ride a stunt scooter, experiencing ramps, flying soft toys in the 'Mario Kart' game as well as learning tricks on the scooter.
Throughout the day, Terry selected a number of children to join him for the showcase assembly, to show some of the skills they had been learning in their sessions.
The classes were very excited to have taken part in the workshop, trying new skills. The children chosen for the showcase were nervous in front of the whole school but were all fantastic, learning from any mistakes and willing to have another go! They certainly showed how resilient they were.
Terry ended the day with his own showcase of tricks and skills, including a 360-degree backflip off a ramp and over the top of a brave Mr Pawlett!
Terry will be heading over to Australia in October to attempt to perform a triple backflip (yes, 1080 degrees!), so we wish him luck with that! He did say he would only manage to perform it once!
A great day was had by all. Here are a few comments from the classes...
Kingfishers class:
Charlie N: I really liked doing the 'no footer'.
Lukas: I liked Mario Kart best. At first, I was scared of being in the showcase, but as you do it more and more, it gets really enjoyable.
