It is hard to believe that we have already been back at school for a month. It has been wonderful to see how quickly the children have settled into their new classes and routines, and I have been incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm and positive attitude they have shown towards their learning. The amount that has already been achieved in such a short time is remarkable. Parent Evening booking information has been sent in a separate email. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to discuss how your child has settled into the new school year, celebrate their successes, and talk about their next steps in learning.

Last week, we were delighted to celebrate our Harvest Festival with Rev. Dove. The generosity shown by our families was truly overwhelming, and we would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated. When we delivered the contributions to Jimmy’s, they too were amazed by the kindness and support shown by our school community. Your donations will make a real difference to those who need them most.

You may also have noticed that our new bike shed on the back playground is now open and available for use. We hope this is proving helpful for families who cycle or scooter to school and that it is helping to ease some of the congestion at the front of the school at the start and end of the day. We encourage you to use the back gate if possible.

A big thank you must also go to our PTA following another successful school disco. It was fantastic to see so many children enjoying themselves, spending time with friends, and making happy memories. We are incredibly grateful to the PTA volunteers who gave their time to organise and run the event.

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended or supported the recent PTA AGM. Despite some technical difficulties with the online access, the meeting was very productive and positive. Apologies to those who experienced difficulties joining remotely. The minutes will be shared in due course, and we hope families will continue to engage with and support both the PTA and the wider school community throughout the year.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Parent Governor Role

Thank you to both Rebecca and Radu who put themselves forward for the role of Parent Governor, the vote concluded and Rebecca Butler gained the most votes and was elected, we look forward to her joining the team of Governors.

Swavesey Primary School will be taking part in Hello Yellow on Friday 9th October to raise awareness and funds for YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity for young people’s mental health.

Many young people are struggling with their mental health right now and that’s why days like Hello Yellow matter. By teaching young people to explore their feelings, how to talk about them and who to reach out to for help, we’re giving them the tools they need.

And by raising funds for YoungMinds, we’re making sure that they have access to support when it matters most.

We’ll be taking part by asking children to come to school wearing something Yellow. This could be a yellow t-shirt, socks, shoes or even a full yellow onesie!

You can donate to support our school’s fundraising online by following this link: https://fundraise.youngminds.org.uk/s/12132/13398

Most importantly, we want to share the resources which YoungMinds offer to support parents and carers if you ever need help and advice.

This includes:

• Online resources (www.youngminds.org.uk/parent)

• A phoneline service for parents and carers to speak to trained professionals if you’re concerned about your children’s mental health: 0808 802 5544 (Open 9.30am-4pm)

• As well as an online chat and email service (www.youngminds.org.uk/parentshelpline) [insert name]

Message from the Local Football Clubs:

Hi Everyone. The green is having work done with the grant money secured from the football clubs.

This is to try and get football back on the green for all teams. Youth and Adult teams. This is also so that the green is safer for kids and animals in general.

We’re all currently spending money we don’t have playing at the college and need to get back on the green asap. We could do with some rain though.

I know it’s almost impossible, but please be aware that there’s seeded areas with fresh soil spread and rolled in.

And we would all ask if your children are playing in it, or your dogs are digging it up. Please try and prevent that. We don’t really want to have to cordon it all off again.

I know it’s hard to monitor, but we’d really appreciate everyone being aware of this.

Many thanks!! From all the football clubs.
