As the sunshine finally begins to appear, it has been wonderful to see the children enjoying more of their learning outdoors. With just one week to go before we break up for the Easter holidays, the school has continued to be a hive of activity, and it’s been another busy and successful week for pupils across all year groups.

A huge thank you to all parents and carers who were able to attend one of our Parents’ Evening sessions this week. It was a real pleasure to share the children’s successes, progress and achievements with you, and we truly value the partnership we have with our families.

Our Year 1 and 2 children began the week with a visit to St Andrew’s Church, where Rev. Dove shared how the church supports our community. The children also created their own beautiful stained‑glass artwork inspired by what they saw. Meanwhile, Year 3 and 4 ventured out on their local‑area geography treasure hunt, exploring key locations around the village and putting their map‑reading and geography skills to excellent use.

We also had a group of children travel into Cambridge to take part in a computing competition at the Centre for Computing History—a fantastic experience for them. Year 5 and 6 had a special opportunity in MFL this week as well, enjoying a one‑off German lesson supported by visiting German exchange students and Mrs Monument from the Village College. Alongside this, some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a tag rugby competition, and another group is representing the school today in the Year 6 YDP Football Cup—good luck to them!

Today, we’ve also enjoyed celebrating Red Nose Day. Many children have come in wearing non‑school uniform and making charitable donations for Comic Relief—thank you to all who contributed. In our assemblies this week, we have also been learning about Eid, and we would like to wish a very happy celebration to all our families marking Eid today.

As we head into the final week of the Spring term, we kindly ask parents and carers to be mindful of parking when dropping off or picking up, particularly avoiding blocking residential driveways. Your support with this is greatly appreciated and helps us maintain good relationships with our neighbours.

Next week looks to be a slightly quieter one as we bring the Spring term to a close and prepare for a well‑earned Easter break. Friday will be a PTA non-uniform day as the last day of term, please bring in a donation if you can spare it.

Year 3 & 4 - Being Curious
We enjoyed welcoming back Mrs Norden for the grand opening of the Environmental Area. It was lovely sharing time with her in nature. Once the ribbon had been cut, we gave a loud cheer and then were eager to explore nature through a treasure hunt, trying to find the location of plants by matching pho...

School Uniform and Lost Property

Please help!!! We have acquired lots of lost property since the start of term and would love to reunite it with their owners, but we can’t as it is all unnamed. If you think you are missing anything, then please pop into reception.

If it doesn’t get collected by the Easter holidays, then it will go to charity.

The school uniform dress code is as follows:

  • Black or grey trousers, shorts, skirts or pinafores
  • White or red polo shirt (with or without school logo)
  • Red cardigan, or sweatshirt (with or without school logo)
  • Red and white summer dress (we request no play suits in EYFS, please)
  • Plain white, grey or black socks or tights
  • Sensible black shoes (sandals may be worn in the summer but these need to be practical for indoor and outdoor learning and play)
  • A sun hat for hot days and a waterproof coat for cold/wet days which are suitable/appropriate for school and weather conditions.

Children should not be coming to school in any other items of clothing.

Please make sure that you label every item of your child's school uniform. Every week we have multiple 'lost' items that we cannot return as they are unnamed. If it is named, it will be returned to its owner!

School Garden Club update!

As I write, the sun is shining and there is blue sky, definite signs that Spring is here! We hope you have seen all the bulbs in the flower beds at the front of the school as well as the bulbs popping through in the planters, bringing lovely colour to cheer us up.

Thank you to those who have left donations of goods as requested – we now have 8 watering cans made from milk bottles with Gary’s help.  No more bottles needed at present! Please can we ask instead for toilet roll inners, as we can use these to sow and plant sunflowers.  And if anyone could donate some sunflower seeds (the big ones as we will have a competition for the tallest!) that would be much appreciated.

Another request is for someone who could help with the design of the garden area to make the best use of the area to grow fruit and vegetables. If this is something you, or someone you know, could help with, please contact me by email sueollive@solomail.co.uk as soon as possible.  We want to start sowing after the Easter break.

This week we were able to sow some flower seeds and water them with the new watering cans. They are now in a greenhouse and we look forward to seeing them start to grow.

One major change for the club is that after Easter we will be meeting on a Friday lunchtime.  I look forward to welcoming some more regular members and would still welcome any volunteers.

Thank you

Welcome to our ‘online safety’ advice, guidance and support page, ‘Wake Up Wednesday (WUW) - what parents / carers need to know’. Each week we will post articles of interest to our newsletter that should help you and your child.

Children regularly use different websites and apps from their parents, and it can be hard to keep up in this ever-changing digital world. These weekly updates from the National College aim to cover important topics such as online safety, mental health, wellbeing, and climate change.

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
