Summer Term Updates

Elm Tree:

Thank you to everyone for their forbearance and support on Friday, with what became a complicated, hot and muggy day in school.  I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather today and the lovely breeze.

The bough and foliage that came down, and the related broken fence, have been made safe and the tree specialists who came out to us on Friday have said they do not feel there is an imminent risk of the whole tree coming down. However, the elm still needs a full assessment, which they were unable to do on Friday.  This will be taking place tomorrow morning.

With temperatures set to be cooler, planning for any reduced space will be much easier for us tomorrow, and so we will be back in school as normal but with an additional safety system for drop off and pick up in place until the full survey of the tree has been completed.

The back gate for drop off will be available as normal, but a walkway, using the red zone sections, and possibly benches, needs to be used to ensure drop off is funnelled in a safe space.  Please use this and do not allow any children to go beyond the demarcated walkway into the main playground space.

Any further planning/adjustments, from guidance and risk assessments, from the full survey will be disseminated in due course should they impact normal school routines beyond tomorrow.

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
