Updates from Mrs Norden

The Year 6s took their Standard Attainment Tests (SATs) 2 weeks ago, having worked incredibly hard in preparation.  They engaged with the assessments with great resilience and resourcefulness, and we are really proud of them all.  Well done! Their half term will be a well earned rest.

Last week saw lots of additional activities too.  Yr5/6 took a trip to Fen Drayton Lakes for a day of art activities. The weather was kind, and the flora and fauna full of life. A group of Yr4s took part in the local area SCSSP Tennis event, during which they were commended for their teamwork.  They all enjoyed the activities with the tennis obstacle course being a favourite.

Our recorder players visited Bethel Baptist for their summer concert, to play for those in the community who attend Club Vintage. A thoroughly musical afternoon was had by all, which included a piano interlude from one of our governors who accompanied them, during the tea and biscuits.

Finally, our netball team competed in the county netball finals, coming an amazing 5th after several local rounds.  The tournament was umpired by local adult division qualified umpires, who were incredibly robust in their decisions and judgements, making the outcome for a rural school team playing against some much larger city schools all the more fantastic.

Look out for new news articles soon which will detail more about some of these events.

The second half of the term begins with our Yr6 residential and Yr5 bikeability training.  Please see below for organisational details for Monday 2nd June. These are really important for a smooth start to the school day for all.

There are also further school and community events to come.  Please see the PTA section below for details about our School Fair and some requests to support this.  There are also two community events detailed in the community section, which may be of interest.

I hope you all have an enjoyable half term, with some rest for all.  We look forward to seeing you on 2nd June.

                                                                                                                               Anna-Claire Norden

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
