Updates from Mrs Norden

This week we have been exploring the theme of 'One Kind Word' through activities linking to National Anti-Bullying Week.  The children have been so thoughtful and engaged, sharing ideas and resources of their own.  Below you can use the link to read about and see some of their work.

Conversely, we have seen lots of issues relating to parking this week, leading to near misses, altercations, traffic jams and the blocking of routes for pedestrians.  I have been in discussion with the neighbourhood policing team, and have written to the county council, about the issues seeking short term and long term support to a regularly occurring situation which can lead to dangers for our families and the wider community at drop off and pick up times.  Please walk to school if at all possible but if you should need to drive please be thoughtful in the way you park to ensure we support the safety of all.

As explained in our newsletter on 5th November, we are unable to have a parental audience for indoor events due to now being in an 'Expanded Plan Area' caused by the high numbers of Covid within the county.  We are therefore looking at options for our Early Years and KS1 productions and whole school Carol concert in December.  We still plan for these to go ahead, albeit it with different organisation, which is why the younger children are possibly already singing Christmas songs linked to their plays at home.  However, plans are not yet confirmed for how to share these with our families.  Once these are finalised we will send details out to you.

Don't forget to look out for our helpful December event and activity reminder sheet, which will be published with next week's newsletter.

Covid Update

This week has seen two positive cases within our school community, alongside further increases in local area numbers.  Under Expanded Area Plan organisation, classes will be informed, but contract tracing will still be carried out by the NHS.

It is vitally important that should your child develop symptoms (high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss or change to their sense of smell or taste, headaches, upset stomach), that you follow the stay at home guidance, which includes taking a PCR test, and let us know as soon as possible.

PTA Meeting Monday 22nd November at 7pm.

This meeting will be virtual, please use the information below to join us on zoom.

Travelling Book Fair

The Travelling Book Fair arrived on Friday 19th November and will be with us until Wednesday 24th November.

As explained last week, due to current Covid restrictions, we are unable to invite parents on site. Instead, your child’s class will be given time to browse hundreds of children’s books with their class teacher in our school hall.

Your child will be encouraged to select a book or two for their Wish List, which will then be sent home for you to review.

Please click here to see the letter and documents which provide more information. (These were also attached to your e-newsletter link email)
