Updates from Mrs Norden

This Spring term, although shorter than the other two terms of the academic year, has proved to be a very busy time for the school.  I hope you have been able to catch up with the various activities the children have enjoyed through our news articles.  If not please use the links below to see what has been happening across the school.  Most of the articles are written by the children, and they hope family and friends enjoy their reflections.

It is a shame that the wettest March on record spoilt our plans to visit Fen Drayton Lakes for activities linked to geography, science and an understanding of the development of local area. However, we look forward to still being able to do this later in the summer term.

Year 1/2 finished the term with a Mexican Day linked to their topic, and it was lovely to see all the colourful costumes they came dressed in on Friday.

There will be PE day changes for some classes across the summer term due to the way in which we need to cover staff to support their wider roles, training needs and national assessment organisation.  Information for specific classes will initially come out directly to parents for those classes affected, and will then be subsequently set out as reminders in our weekly newsletters.

We are sorry that this will mean a lack of consistency for some classes for which day children need to come in PE kits, as there has generally been across the past two terms.  Unfortunately, as we enter this new financial year, where we have had to consider budgeting needs far more carefully than in any other in my experience as a headteacher, we are having to be far more prudently adept in using our resourcing while meeting our commitments.

We hope you have a wonderful Easter break and that the sunshine continues to support any plans you have.

Anna-Claire Norden
