Updates from Mrs Norden

We have come to the end of a short, but busy half-term, with the next few weeks looking even busier.  There are so many things in our planning, so I have added a brief summary below to give you an insight into what is to come.  More details for each event will, where necessary, come out nearer to the time with some including requests for volunteer helpers.

This week Mrs Namur fully launched our work on becoming a Rights Respecting School (RRS), and our journey towards achieving our UNICEF UK Bronze award.  If you missed her previous letter please click here for details, and you can click here for further information on our website.  Mrs Namur will be  bringing together children to form a committee of representatives from across the school to develop and lead our RRS action plan.  This committee will join our School Council and Eco committee in providing our children a 'voice' within our school development.

Despite this not having been a long half-term, everyone appears quite tired, and so hopefully the break has come at the right time for all to have some rest and recuperation.  I do hope you have a lovely week and the weather is kind supporting anything you may have planned.

We looked forward to seeing the children back in school on Monday 20th February.

Anna-Claire Norden

Spring Term Admin and Updates

Jewellery - The only jewellery children can wear to school are small stud earrings, this is very important to ensure we can meet health and safety measures and avoid items being caught and causing injury.  However, children should not wear earrings for PE and will be asked to remove them as part of our H&S protocols informed by LA guidance. If children cannot remove earrings because they have been newly pierced they should recovered wit micropore tape for PE days to support H&S.

Vomitting and Diarrhoea  - It is vitally important to support the health and wellbeing of all that if a child has omitted and/or had diarrhoea they do not return to school until 48hrs after the last episode. This follows NHS and LA guidelines and in particular supports the vulnerable children and adults on site for whom catching such 'bugs' could cause serious illness.

Covid Vaccination Information for children - a letter from the NHS can be found here and a timetable of vaccination drop ins here, which includes immunisation catch-ups and adult flu vaccinations.

eCops news

Dear Parents / carers,

This year, Cambridgeshire Constabulary are celebrating the 20-year anniversary of eCops.

eCops began back in 2003 when an East Chesterton Sergeant wanted a way to keep local residents informed and up to date with what police were doing in their area.

It started as a simple email to all East Chesterton residents and has developed and grown over the past 20 years to an advanced system used by around 19,000 people across the county.

It is free and easy to sign up, and subscribers can register according to their location and interests, reducing information overload and ensuring that they receive targeted alerts that are focused on their own area and interests.

Messages can include crime news, information about crime happening locally, crime prevention advice, details about local incidents and appeals for help in reducing crime in the county.

Members can also reply to alerts, providing a quick and easy two-way communication between yourself and your local officers. You can tell us about your concerns, to help us police your neighbourhoods effectively.

As a parent / carer to a young person in Cambridgeshire, we recommend that everyone subscribes to eCops to be more aware of crime happening in your area, therefore being in a better position to protect yourself and your family against crime.

Sign up in seconds at www.ecops.org.uk

Kind regards,

Cambridgeshire Constabulary
