Chicken's eggs

The girls have continued to lay despite the shorter days and dreadful weather. Although this may not be 6 eggs every day at the moment, they are laying at least 4 between them each day, despite the shorter days and dreadful weather, which hopefully shows they continue to be healthy and happy.

We hope those of you who have had a pack of eggs have enjoyed them and Iris, Heather, Penny, Dotty, Emerald and April (and Mrs Norden) say thank you for your support.

If you would like a pack of our eggs this term please complete the very short form accessed here.  We give out the eggs on week days when the chickens lay using the order people have sign up in.  We ask for a donation of £1 per pack which will go towards feed, bedding etc.

Please Help Keep our Children Safe

Please support the village and the safety of our children by sending your comments to the Parish council on their bid for the Local Highways Scheme

What is the Local Highways Improvement Scheme?

Each year CCC provides a funding scheme across Cambridgeshire for communities to apply for funding towards proposals for highway improvements in their area, the LHI Scheme.

Swavesey Parish Council applies to this scheme each year and has been successful in receiving funding for a number of improvement schemes around the village over the past few years.

2023/24

Swavesey Parish Council will be submitting an application for an improvement scheme for the School Lane/Thistle Green junction area to:

  • Slow traffic down by improving the existing table junction (making it more effective, as per the Gibraltar Lane-School Lane junction).
  • Incorporate two crossing points at either end of the table junction – to help make it safer to cross School Lane, particularly at School start and finish times.
  • Include double yellow lines around Thistle Green junction, to stop vehicles parking right on the corners and blocking the crossing points, how dangerous it is currently to try to cross School Lane.
  • Repaint the road markings and table junction markings, making the feature more visible.

As part of the application, evidence from the local community in support of the scheme and the reasons for proposing it are to be included.  The Council welcome your comments and these can be sent to the Parish Council at clerk@swavesey.org.uk
