Updates from Mrs Norden

This last week has seen two Year 6 teams take part in the Local Authority English challenge, Year 3/4 teams take part in an SCSSP OAA (Outdoor Adventurous Activity) event and our PTA Car Boot Sale and AGM.

You can find more details of the children's events in news articles linked below.  They all represented themselves, and the school, extremely well, enjoyed the activities and learnt new skills as well as showcased the skills they already had. Well done to them all.

The PTA continue to be busy supporting the school with their fundraising activities.  Whilst the car boot sale was a small affair, we enjoyed the fun of the event and the sunny day.  The PTA raised some funds, and we hope the sellers did so as well.

Our PTA AGM took place last night, again this was a small affair, and we are very grateful for those who gave, and give, up their time to support us.  In the academic year 2021 - 22 the PTA raised a phenomenal £13,428.18.  This is a staggering amount considering that many events were either cancelled or didn't follow their normal routines due to Covid.  As a school we are extremely grateful for the hard work the PTA puts into fundraising; this year it allowed us to spend £12,229.84 on replacing our very old white boards/projectors, continuing subscriptions for teaching and learning resources as well as provide the children with books at Christmas and party goodies and more.

I would like to say a personal thank you to all who support our PTA as committee members and helpers for their time and enthusiasm, because this enables our needs and hopes to be fulfilled.  Also, to those who attend our events from our school, local and wider communities for supporting our fundraising events and initiatives.

After the AGM formalities, we discussed the various events which are planned for the remainder of this term, ways to glean more helpers and ideas for the future.  As these come to fruition hopefully the PTA will be able to continue their much valued and needed support.

Individual and sibling photographs will take place next week on Tuesday 11th (apologies for the confusion where we had to change the original date).  Please see the admin section below for further details.

Today's newsletter has lots of new, and updated, information with links to articles and third party information, events and activities, so please do read all the way to the end.

Yr3/4 Teams enjoy an afternoon of OAA
Here are some reports about the Yr3/4 OAA activity at Comberton yesterday (Thursday 6th October). The thing I enjoyed most is doing teamwork with my friends. I felt good when one of the sports leaders helped me in an activity and gave me a high five for doing good work. I learnt that I am good at...

Autumn Term Administrative and Information Updates

Parent Consultations - you should receive today (Friday 7th October), with this newsletter link, a letter inviting you to a parent consultation during the week beginning 17th October.  If you have not received this by Monday please email the office to let them know.  Bookings through MCaS will be available from 4pm on 7th October until 3pm on 14th October.

School Photos - Children need to come to school in school uniform not PE kits on Tuesday 11th.  The curriculum will be adapted to support this.

We are returning to full pre-Covid organisation and so between 8.15 and 8.45am on Tuesday the hall will be open for the photographer to take sibling photos which include preschool age children.  If you would like a photograph of your 'primary children' with a 'preschool age' sibling, please attend school between these times. Primary only sibling photographs will be taken during the school day.

School Dinners - Please can you ensure that you pre-book any school meals (hot dinners or school packed lunch) you wish your children to have. This is vital to support organisation including ordering and meal preparation. Even if children are in Reception, Year 1 and 2, where they are eligible for infant free school meals, the children's school dinner needs to be pre-booked.
