Updates from Mrs Norden

Thank you for all your harvest donations today, we know that Jimmy's shelter will be very grateful for your kindness.  Our assembly focused on why we celebrate harvest and the different celebrations across the world at different times of year.  We also learnt some Makaton signs to use as we sang 'Paintbox' (Cauliflowers fluffy) one of my favourite Harvest songs.

The next few weeks are full of varied events including several the PTA have organised.  As always their fundraising is invaluable and contributes to many of the regular subscriptions and purchases we need to make each year to support teaching and learning. These funds, especially as costs rise, provide essentials before we can begin to use to for additional 'treats' for the children.  Your support for the PTA, and their events, is therefore also essential.  So please join us on Sunday for their Car boot sale and next week for their AGM - details of which are below.

Children will have/will be bringing home their cauliflower cards art for you to look at, and the PTA will be organising for their designs to be sent off and added to the items you choose to purchase.  A separate email will provide further details for you.  Finally, before half term, we also have our Bake Off competition, which is always a wonderful treat, details of which will follow soon.

Next Thursday (6th), the catering staff will be putting on a special Pirates' Day lunch details of which can also be found below.

The weather has definitely felt far more autumnal this week, and as I finish this newsletter I can hear the rain pouring onto the school roof and windows.  I hope the sun makes an appearance over the weekend, but I know how much we need the rain too.

Autumn Term Administrative and Information Updates

Lateness at drop off time - please note that the gates will shut at 8.55am.  If children arrive after this time they need to come into school via the front entrance and sign in using the electronic system.  This is really important to ensure they are properly registered, so we know who is actually on the premises for safety and safeguarding.

Access to site - please note, as indicted on the gate, should you require access to the premises for clubs etc. out of the school day hours (8.50am to 3.20pm) please use the EY&P button as the office is likely to be unmanned.

Vomiting and diarrhoea protocols - should your child vomit or have diarrhoea they should not attend until 48hrs after the last bout.  This is to support the safety of all and reduce the likelihood of 'bugs' being passed on.  This si particularly important as we do have children and staff with underlying health conditions which would be significantly negatively affected if they were to become ill from this.

Head lice - we have had seral cases of head lice across our whole setting (preschool/primary). Please can we ask you to regularly check your children's hair and treat if lice are present.

Request

Wellington Boots - Thank you for the donations you have sent in this week.  It would be lovely to have just a few more of varied sizes.  We are looking for donations of Wellington to support with our chicken care.  If you do have any children's sized boots you could donate please drop them off at the office.
