Updates from Mrs Norden

As we come to the end of our first week back, the nation is mourning the passing of our much loved Queen.  Our assembly today focused on celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's life and explaining, in simple terms, that Britain will now have a period of mourning.

We await guidance from the DfE, on expectations of schools during this period and will keep you informed of any necessary details.

The children have returned to routines and engaged in lots of learning activities this week.  For those who have moved to new key stages, and phases, some will have been new to them and expectations higher. As always, the first week back has been tiring for all, with some children even falling asleep this afternoon but hopefully the weekend will be a restful one.

Over the holidays our chickens have grown, and their personalities are developing.  They have begun to lay eggs, and we are now regularly finding 5 eggs each day. If you would like to have some of our eggs please see details below.  We have asked the children not to feed grass or other vegetation through the fence in order to discourage the chickens from 'peckiness' towards us.  We hope that children will start to help us look after them and this will be important so please can we ask you to support this if you visit the run.

Below is an article relating to 'Bill's quiz'.  Bill is a past pupil of the school and has organised a fundraising quiz in support of scouts across the globe.  Please click into the article for details and support this worthwhile cause if you can.

This week's newsletter contains quite a bit of new and updated information, so please read on to keep abreast of changes, requests and additions.

Year 6 - Year 6s are allowed to walk home with written permission from parents.  If you are happy for your child to walk home please can you email the school office to confirm this, using 'Year 6 walking home' as your email subject.  Any child without permission will be expected to be collected by an adult.  As part of our safeguarding protocols Year 5s need to be collected.  We will work with them on their understanding of how to stay safe as part of our PSHE, and in either the spring or summer term, with permission, they will then be able to walk home.

Chicken's eggs

If you would like a pack of our eggs please complete the very short form accessed by clicking here.  We will be giving out the eggs on week days when the chickens lay and will use the order you sign up to the form in as the order of giving them out to you i.e. first come, first served.

We will not be using any artificial light to increase production through the winter months and so it is likely that as the days shorten we will have a few months without any egg production. We will let you know if and when this happens.

We ask for a donation of £1 per pack (5 at the moment each day, could be 6 if they all lay) which will go towards feed, bedding etc..

If anyone has egg boxes they can donate to us, we would be very grateful to receive them.
