Updates from Mrs Norden

We have come to the end of an extremely busy year as we have returned to annual events and activities as well as national accountability systems, whilst still learning to live with Covid.

We continue to have been less impacted by Covid than many schools without having to close any classes this term, despite a rise in cases through the end of June and July.  As we move into the new academic year, we will be reinstating the last of the activities and events from pre-Covid times.  We will continue to have a 'Covid' plan to put in place should we have case rises at different times of the year, as required by the Local Authority (LA).

The LA have sent out information this week detailing the concern from health professionals on rising cases in the autumn term and the recommendation for vaccinations.  Please click here to access the NHS information on Cambridgeshire vaccination outreach programme across the summer for school age children and click here for the FAQs linked to vaccinations for children.

I would like to thank our staff for their support and hard work across the year in ensuring we have moved back to full teaching and learning opportunities in the first year without any national lock-downs 2019/20.  Also for continuing to implement safety measures to keep the school open and everyone safe, especially this week as we saw the hottest temperatures in the UK.  Luckily the last couple of days have seen a drop in temperatures, although tiredness has been quite high.

I would also like to thank you, our families, and wider community members, for all your support throughout, which has contributed to our successes.

Please find below a variety of information and updates relevant to the end of term and the start of the new academic year.

I hope you all have an enjoyable summer break, which brings some rest as well as family time.  Please stay healthy and safe, and we look forward to seeing you on 5th September.  Our gates will open at 8.45am, so children can be in class and ready for registration at 8.50am as per our new timings.

Autumn Term Early Reminders and Updates

A full initial set of diary dates will be sent out to you during the holiday period.

School open for staff training days 1st and 2nd September

5th September - Children's first day (Gate systems will remain the same - please remember the narrow side path around the side of the school and car park is a one-way system moving from the front to the rear of the school.  We have had quite a few people access it the wrong way this week which has led to a couple of injuries and a few children becoming panicked when separated due to the confusion).

Parent Information meetings all start at 2.30pm - if you cannot attend information will be sent out after the meeting to all parents in the phase.

Tuesday 6th Sept Yr3/4

Wednesday 7th Sept Yr5/6

Monday 12th Sept Yr1/2

Wednesday 14th Sept Reception

Cuppa and a chat at Drop off time

There will be an opportunity for our Reception parents to join some staff, and PTA members, for a 'cuppa and a chat' after you have dropped your children off for their first day at school on 5th September.  After leaving them to go into class please come round to the hall to join us.

On Friday 9th, the same invitation is open to all parents who would like to join us after drop off for a 'cuppa and a chat'.

School Dinners increase - in September school meals will be increasing to £2.40 (by 6p) - this is due to the rising costs of food, fuel, energy and employment.

Rotary Club - YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER 2022/23

THEME 'THE BEAUTY OF ARCHITECTURE'

We are again running the Young Photographer competition. I would not normally send details until the new school year but in view of the subject matter, I thought the summer holidays may give an opportunity for some interesting photographs.

The rules are the same with one photograph being submitted digitally with brief description of why it represents the theme. There is one change in that the Junior section has no lower age limit. Photographer should be submitted by 31st December at the latest.  Please access the poster and entry form here.

Outstanding Preschool, Breakfast and After school club fees

May I please remind families that requested sessions are added to your accounts at the beginning of each half term. Fees are required to be paid at the beginning of each month or at the beginning of each half term. Adhoc sessions are added to your accounts as soon as requested, these sessions require immediate payment.

After checking accounts recently, there seems to be a few that are still outstanding.  Please can payment be made before Wednesday 20th July so the Accounts team have time to process payments before the end of this academic year

Many thanks for your cooperation and understanding

If you would like to book sessions for the new academic year, then please email EYandP@swavesey.cambs.sch.uk

Happy holidays to all the families that attend our EY and P Centre.
