Updates from Mrs Norden

It has been a fantastic week for our netball B team with a win, and our cricketers a tied second place for both teams, in their respective tournaments.   A huge well done to all the players, who showed great sportsmanship in its widest sense, as well as skill.  Please see the news articles below for further details.

I have a couple of reminders to support safety, please remember the path around the side of the school is 'one-way' only (front to back) during drop off and pick up.  We have had a few collisions and near misses due to people coming from the back playground the wrong way.  The system is there to maintain safety, so please help us with this.  Likewise, bikes should not be wheeled through this space during the same period.

Next week, whilst short (don't forget we are only open to children for 3 days Mon-Wed) is going to be very busy with Jubilee activities and celebrations alongside curriculum sessions.  We are looking forward to seeing a different looking group on Monday as we dress up for the day and to enjoying entries from our PTA Bake Off competition.  Please see the section below for reminders of details shared last week.

                                                                                                                        Anna-Claire Norden
                                                                                                                                       Headteacher

Next Week's Jubilee Celebrations Reminders:

1. PTA 'The Great Swavesey School Jubilee Bake Off' Competition - as you will know we had to postpone our traditional 'Bake Off' in October, and so we will start our festivities off on Monday 23rd May with a Jubilee special.  Children are invited to enter the competition by bringing in cupcakes and/or biscuits with a Jubilee design.  These will be judged on the designs and sold at the end of the day to raise funds for the PTA. Please drop these off into the school hall through the quiet area doors - please note the IN (nearest the main building) and OUT (nearest to the main playground) doors to keep a one way system.

If the weather is dry the cake sale will be on the back playground; if wet in the hall using the same one way system as above to maintain a flow through the hall.  Please see note payment will be by donation wit a minimum of 50p power item - we will be using donation buckets and not providing change.

Please see the competition poster for further details by clicking here.

2. Dressing Up Day and an Afternoon Street Party - On Monday 23rd children are invited to dress up following the theme of 'British Royalty' or in 'red, white and blue' for the day.  In the afternoon, we will be holding our own 'street party' in the school playground with a costume parade, games and party snacks.
