Updates from Mrs Norden

We hope the Easter Holiday brought rest and relaxation for all our families at some point during what may also have been a busy time.  The weather definitely brought a wonderfully warm bank holiday weekend after the flurries of snow and the rain of the few weeks before.

Our first week back brings some lovely news to share with you, alongside busy adventures.

Our 'lovely news' is that Mrs Poskitt is expecting her second child in the early autumn; we are very excited for her and her family.

Continuing the theme of new births, our reception children have been developing their animal husbandry looking after our 'living eggs' which they took management of on Tuesday.  See the news article below for all our egg...citing news!

On Thursday, Year 3/4 went to the Sedgwick and Classical Architecture museums to bring to life some previous learning and begin their new topic.  Again see the new article below for more details.

As Covid restrictions nationally changed on 1st April, we have begun to relax our own in line with guidance but continue to be vigilant and cautious.  Please see details below which explains the present measures for school and absence information.

Other sections of our newsletter below contain important reminders and information today, so please do read to the end.

Covid Updates

As you may be aware, the NHS COVID-19 symptoms in adults and symptoms in children have been updated.   Adults and children who have symptoms of a respiratory infection, including COVID-19, should follow the UKHSA guidance. Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people, where they can. They can go return to school and resume normal activities when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend.

If a child tests positive for Covid, then they must stay at home for 3 days starting from the day after the test, this is 5 days for adults

The Local Authority has provided ongoing advice for maintained schools and Jonathan Lewis, our director of education has written a letter to all parents summarising aspects of this. Click here to access his letter.

The government have now removed the 'X' codes for Covid related absences, which will now only be considered under illness protocols.  Therefore, all absence procedures will now return to pre-Covid statutory systems in line with the attendance policy which can be found on the website here.

2. Naming Uniform - we are beginning to build up a pile of un-named lost property.  If you are missing anything please check the box in the front entrance hall and the picnic tables in the quiet area.  If clothes are named we can return them to their owner, so please do make sure labels are clear with your child's name.

3. Year 6 Hoodies - please don't forget to order hoodies for your Year 6.

4. Recorder Club -this will start again on Wednesday.  Please remind your child they need to go to eat lunch first as the club begins at 12.30pm.
