Updates from Mrs Norden

This half term started with our PTA quiz, which was a fun evening of brain-teasers, exceptional foil modelling and good humour.  A huge thank you to our quiz masters, Neil, Caroline, Paul, Stacey, Fiona, Ged, Sarah and Kev for their fabulous quizzing efforts, and to the PTA for their wider organisation, providing such an enjoyable evening.

Our Reading week, and World Book Day celebrations, came next, showing how much we love reading.  You can 'read all about it' in the news articles below, through which you can also see pictures of our shared reading, the fantastic costume parade and the school kitchen wonderland.

This week we have joined in with the annual National Science Week, with the children engaging in science based activities linked to the theme 'Adapt and Change'.  They have undertaken experiments, learnt about scientists across various disciplinary fields and considered how much science plays a part in all our lives. We definitely have many scientists of the future in our midst and the enjoyment of the subject has been clear.

On Monday, the PTA will have a cake sale after school on the back playground. Please see the poster below for details.  Cupcake and biscuit donations are welcomed. Then on Friday we will be joining in with 'Comic Relief' with a non-uniform day, with the colour red being encouraged with a donation towards the charity.  Any noses brought in should be clearly labelled to avoid upset should they become lost, misplaced or mixed up and will be expected to be the children's responsibility.  Thank you in advance for your support in these fundraising endeavours.

Please can I remind those who drive to school for drop off and pick up to be mindful of our neighbours, ensuring you park legally and responsibly.  We have had several complaints recently about driveways being blocked, with people not being able to get out of, or onto, their driveways and having to wait for our families to return to their cars, which is unfair.

Finally, thank you to Mrs Webster and Mrs Huddleston for putting themselves forward to support the school as a parent governor, and to those who voted to support this process.  From the election, we welcome Mrs Webster to our governing body as the elected parent governor, and we look forward to working with her.

                                                                                                                               Anna-Claire Norden

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
