Updates from Mrs Norden

A huge well done to the Year 3/4s for their fabulous 'Egyptian Adventure' production.  It was a lesson in Egyptian history, as well as, more modern pop culture - I'm sure 'Walk like an Egyptian' has been earworms for many over the last few weeks.  Thank you to all the staff for their hard work in putting the production together, and to our families for supporting the children with costumes and word learning. Thank you to our audiences for their contributions to their charity collection which raised £150 for the National Children and Young People’s Diabetes Network.

Thank you to the PTA committee, staff and volunteers who supported the school discos, as well as, Mr Ambrose for his 'tunes'.  It was a great event enjoyed by all the children, which raised a fabulous £591.93.

The deadline for signing up for the ELSA diabetes study is next Wednesday. Please see details below for this.  We have families who are affected by diabetes and know that early identification can really support next steps and coping with it.  Additionally, contributing to the study could help support ongoing medical advancements for all.

The rest of today's newsletter contains lots of updates and news, including information about local events and half term activities, so please keep reading.

Jewellery and Finger Nails

To support safety, all children should not wear jewellery to school except small stud earrings, which must be removed for PE sessions to ensure subject-specific safety rules are followed.  This term we ave seen an increase of jewellery being worn.

Additionally, children should attend school with trimmed 'natural nails'.  This week we have had medical issues due to gel nails and accidents where nails have been (natural and fake) have been sharp and caught others.

Junior Parkrun

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 We’re exploring the idea of launching a Sunday junior parkrun. This will be a fun 2K event for young children (age 4-14) to run or walk around in Northstowe each Sunday from 9am. However, this can only go ahead if we establish a core team of volunteers to support the event. If you’d like to be part of something special and help inspire the next generation of parkrunners, we’d love to hear from you! Contact us at bughunterwaters@parkrun.com to get involved. Please share this with anyone else who might be interested—we’d love to spread the word and make this happen! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
