Fireworks Friday 8th November

Hello Parents / Hello Swavesey

We are busy planning our annual fireworks display planned for Friday 8th November, which is enjoyed by many children and adults from the village and surrounding areas.

Unfortunately, we are experiencing increasing costs for the pyrotechnics and insurance this year.

We are appealing for anyone who would be willing to sponsor the event to help make sure we can still raise essential funds for the school as well as provide a great night of entertainment for all. If you know of a business or individual who would like to donate an amount to sponsor the event please contact the PTA at pta@swavesey.cambs.sch.uk

Thank you for your support

Updates from Mrs Norden

As you will see from our latest news articles below, groups of children in KS2 have been engaged in varied SCSSP sporting events.  A huge well done to all our netballlers for their success in Round one of the Bee Netball competition.

We had a really informative and exciting assembly from Ms Lai, one of our parents, who is a local engineer working on flood management projects, supporting Cambridgeshire, Linconshire and Leeds all areas impacted by flooding. We want to say a huge thank you to her for sharing her expertise and specialism with us and inspiring many.

We also discovered that Ms Lai was one of the winners of the 'Top 50 Women in engineering 2024' awarded to 'the inspiring women who have significantly influenced technology, sustainability, and society'. A fabulous achievement and it was brilliant to hear about the work Ms Lai has been doing which will have formed part of the evidence for this award.

If you have a specialism/expertise/interest you would be willing to share with the children, please get in touch.  It is so important for children to have first-hand experiences and to hear from people across a wide range of industries and sectors.

We continue to have confirmed cases of 'hand, foot and mouth'.  Thank you to all those who have been vigilant, catching symptoms early (click here). It is highly infectious, and if caught can make people very unwell, so please keep maintaining your vigilance to support our medically vulnerable children and staff.  Children should not return if they have a high temperature or open ulcers, as these will lead to further spread.

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
