School Games day (tomorrow Monday 24th June)

This will be going ahead tomorrow due to good weather. Here is a reminder of information.

All children may come to school already dressed in their sports kit, wearing a plain t-shirt in their house colour - a coloured tabard will be made available, on the day, should children require one.

Please remember to apply sun cream to your child before school and send them in with a named sunhat and water bottle. As is usual in PE lessons, long hair should be tied back, with earrings removed, prior to coming to school.

KS2 will start arriving on the school field at 9.20am for a 9.30am start.  If possible parents and carers should vacate the premises to support our safeguarding protocols, but if this isn't possible you may wait in the front playground after school starts, until a member of staff takes you round to the back field.  The school gate will be shut at 9am as usual, and we will reopen it at 9.20am. The front gate will be shut again at 9.40am - after this time there may not be a member of staff in the office to open the gate should you arrive later.

The morning events should finish at approximately 11.45am. Scoring during the morning will be carried out by staff and SVC Sports Leaders.

Reception and KS1 will begin their afternoon at 1.15pm, finishing at approximately 3.10pm. The front gate will be opened just after 1.05pm to allow parents and carers to go through to the field. The front gate will be shut at 1.25pm - after this time there may not be a member of staff in the office to open the gate should you arrive late. Our current Year 6 Sports Leaders will help the teaching staff out with scoring during the afternoon.

Pre-school children, who are joining us in September, will take part in a running race (2.30pm ish), prior to Reception and KS1 races. Parents and Carers joining them will need to arrive at 2.25pm for entry to school.

Children will be moving around the 10 zones in their house teams, earning points towards their final house total. The children will then take part in their own individual sprinting races, whilst scores are added up! Races do not count towards final scores. Cup presentation will conclude each of the events.

Annual School Reports

Friday 5th will see the children's school reports ready to come home to you. Please make sure MCaS shows permission for these to be brought home by the children, which is part of our GDPR processes. If this permission is not 'ticked' in Bromcom then parents will be able to collect the report/s from the school office from Monday (8th) morning.  If those with parental responsibility do not live in the same household, and you would like to request a second copy of a child's report, please ensure you let us know by email to the office.  If you need this posted please provide us with the correct address in your email.

The report envelope this year will again include a paper copy of your child's personal data sheet.  We are still finding that some information we hold is incorrect with updates not having been made through MCaS.  Please can we ask if there are any corrections needed, you return the sheet to the office with this information annotated by the end of term.

Reception Request

Reception are looking for some donations of baby dolls to support their work on RSE this week. If you are willing to part with any pre-loved dolls, we would be grateful for any soft-bodied or hard bodied dolls to use in our learning. Please could we ask you to send them into school with your child tomorrow or as soon as possible.

Reminder about our Parent/Carer Survey - Closing date 28th June at 3.30pm

Thank you to all those who have completed our survey.  If you missed this last week please read on.  We really value your input.

In continuing to develop our provision, we would like to seek your views on aspects of school organisation, development and specifically the work we have begun on the cultural opportunities we provide our children. This includes views on systems we introduced, or changed, due to the impact of Covid-19, to support ongoing decision-making.

One section relates to work we have begun through the school council with our children, and also with the school staff and governors, on considering the cultural opportunities we offer our children to develop their understanding, knowledge and skills in many diverse aspects of life.

Hopefully, the survey will not take too long to complete, and the questions are self-explanatory.  Please use the link below to access the survey:

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
