Updates from Mrs Norden

Another busy week saw a visit from Olympic and World champion gymnast Beth Tweddle, our Netball 'A team' going through to the county finals and lots of skipping.  Needless to say, there has been much excitement through the school, and we are very proud of how amazingly all our netballers have played this year.  More details can be found in the news articles below about all these events and activities.

I will be sending out Yr 1- 6 termly letters and associated documents today to parents and carers, with the link to this newsletter.  These provide an overview of the children's learning and planned activities for the summer term.  You can find links to the website pages where they can also be accessed below.

You will notice a change in terminology from 'topic' to 'unit of work', which has come from the curriculum review we have been undertaking.  Our work has highlighted that the term 'topic' often leads to a lack of understanding of the individual curriculum subjects being taught.  We hope the phrase 'unit of work' will support a clearer focus on each subject, such as history, geography, science etc., so children can make better connections rather than attributing learning to the collective 'topic'.

We hope you have found the changes to our website layout supportive. Please remember all key information for parents and carers, such as dates, lunch menus and more can be found through the page 'Parent and Carer information', which can be accessed by clicking here.

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
