Updates from Mrs Norden

Several of our children have been taking part in external events this week, and you can read about these in the 'Latest News' stories linked below.

Number Day on Friday brought a whole variety of different clothing and accessories to highlight numbers.  We hope the children enjoyed the number of activities throughout the day, which supported us in raising money for the NSPCC as well as raising the profile of how important numbers are to our lives.

As an update to the phishing email, I want to say a huge thank you to our Meridian technicians whose swift response ensured that the impact on us and others was minimalised.  The investigation showed that none of our parents/carers' personal emails were impacted, possibly because of this effective action.

I also want to say a huge thank you to Mrs Whistler for working tirelessly last weekend and into Monday with our electricians to rectify the issues in our kitchen caused by the village power outage. Also, thank you to our families for your patience with two days of no hot meals being provided.

As you will have seen from the media, the West Midlands is currently experiencing a large outbreak of measles and so UKHSA has declared a national incident. Please click here to read a letter from LA public health director about the spread of measles and the preparations should there be an outbreak in Cambridgeshire.  Please make sure you read this as it gives information relating to vaccinations and steps which may be taken if your child is identified as a close contact of a measles case without a satisfactory vaccination status.

Please can I need remind you that children should not have mobile phones in school, nor should they wear smart watches which can connect to the Internet.  Please can we ask you to ensure these are not brought to school to support our safeguarding protocols.  If they are, we will secure them in the office for return at the end of the day, and will contact you to discuss. If parents/carers of Year 6s who walk home feel their children should have a phone for safety please come and discuss this with me.

The week before half-term we will be having two themed lunches.  Click here for Pancake Day lunch menu and here for the Valentine's Day lunch.

Could you foster?

At Nexus Fostering based in Lolworth, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care. We also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01223 903 503 or email Leanne on leannea@nexusfostering.co.uk.
