Updates from Mrs Norden

Happy New Year and welcome back to our first term of 2024. I still find myself writing 2023 and have yet to become used to the change, but hopefully, 2024 will bring happiness and joy to all.

We welcome Mr Seekings to our Early Years and Playwork centre team. He will initially be supporting in After-school club and so those who attend these sessions will meet him next week.

Most of today's newsletter provides reminders and updates for the term.  So please check through all the sections below for information on PE days, the PTA's New Year discos on 12th January, the Year 3/4 production on 17th and 18th January, the community Pantomime 19th - 21st January and more.

Clubs begin next week (week beginning 8th January), including after/before-school sports clubs, recorders and gardening clubs.  For those who signed up for the sports clubs, unless you have been contacted to say otherwise, your place has been secured.  There were a couple of applications without children's names, so they may not be on the register but will be able to attend. This is something to double check in the future when signing up.

Years 3 to 6 will be playing hockey in PE lessons this half term, for which they will be required to wear shin pads for safety.  The school has pads for the children to use, but if your child has their own and would prefer to wear these, they will need to bring them with them on PE days.

The deadline for 2024 Reception applications is 15th January of which the LA have asked us to remind parents.  The LA information for applications can be found here.

The weather next week will apparently be turning cold, so please remind your children not to forget their coats, gloves, hats etc. to keep them warm at playtimes.

Whilst this term is short by comparison there are many activities and events for the children to enjoy and for families to be involved in as well, so don't forget to check the website (diary dates especially) and the newsletters for updates and information.
