Swavesey Pre-school

Prospectus

Swavesey Pre-school was established in 1972 and is a registered charity run by a parent management committee. We are a friendly, village Pre-School, situated in a mobile building in the grounds of Swavesey Primary School. We have a large, well-equipped indoor space and access to outdoor space. We are registered with Ofsted for a maximum of 26 children per session and follow a constitution set out by the Pre-school Learning Alliance. We are planning to move into a modular Pre-school building to be sited at Swavesey Primary School, during the Summer Holidays.

Aims

Swavesey Pre-school aims to:

  • provide high quality care and education for children below school age
  • work in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop
  • add to the life and well-being of our local community
  • offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity
  • teach social skills and provide opportunities for children to learn through play
  • prepare the children for school where they will begin the next level of education

Admission

Sessions are held Monday to Friday from 9.10 a.m. - 11.40 a.m. and some afternoons from 1.00 p.m. - 3.30 p.m. We accept children from 2 years 9 months on a fee-paying basis. We prefer children to be toilet trained but will offer support where necessary. Children are encouraged to attend at least 2 sessions a week to enable them to integrate and settle into Pre-school routine and to become familiar with staff and other children. Children become eligible for Nursery Education Funding from the term after they are 3 years old.

We currently have 6 members of staff.

  • Dennie Overall - Supervisor (level 3)
  • Liz Marsh - Deputy Supervisor (level 2)
  • Wendy Marsh (level 2)
  • Kelly Papworth (level 2)
  • Diana Jones (level 2)
  • Gemma Knock

Staffing arrangements are organised to ensure safety and to meet the needs of the children.

Key Person System

Your child will be assigned a key person for the duration of their time at Swavesey Pre-school. This key person will be responsible for helping your child settle in and will also make observations of your child's achievements and interests. They will record these observations throughout your child's time at Pre-school and this information will be passed on to the Primary School. Your child's key person will ensure you are included and involved in this process with regular feedback and updates.

Enrolling

To enquire about enrolling your child please contact the Pre-school Supervisor.
