 Book Club

Book Club is run on Wednesday lunchtimes by a team of parent volunteers. It is a savings scheme with a book as a reward.

We are open between 12.30 and 1pm in The Pod for Years 1 to 6. It is their responsibility to remember!

Reception children are collected from their classrooms on Wednesday after lunch.

All children choose a book from our large selection, which is kept at Book Club until it is paid for. (Our books are cheaper than the RRP.)

Each week the children bring some money (usually 50p or £1) which is recorded on a card kept at Book Club and also on a card which your child brings home so you can see what book they have chosen and how much has been paid towards it. When the book is paid for the child earns a sticker, takes the book home and can choose another book to save towards.

Please ensure your child’s card and money is brought in a clear pencil case, ziplock bag or envelope with their name on. We have a supply of clear pencil cases we can sell to the children for this purpose. They cost 50p each. This will need to be placed in the Book Club Tub in their classrooms when they get into school on Wednesday mornings. The tubs will be taken to The Pod by the Book Club Monitors, so all the child needs to do is remember to pop in!

Any profits are used to replace stock, and at the end of each school year we are able to give the school some money to spend on books for the school library and classrooms and other literacy projects.

The children, especially the younger ones, really enjoy the chance to choose their own books and handle their own money, asking each week "do I get my book this week?" Some parents use Book Club as a chance to encourage good or helpful behaviour at home, rewarding the child with some money to spend at Book Club.

We look forward to seeing your child at Book Club!
